Luxy Hair Extensions!

I've recently become quite obsessed with youtube (heres my channel: Natasha's YouTube Channel .. more videos coming super soon) and I stumbled upon a channel called LuxyHair 's YouTube Channel . These are two sisters who are now living in Canada and wanted to make extensions that were made of 100% Remi Hair, but that were still affordable for anyone to buy. Their whole channel is devoted to beauty, hair, makeup and fashion and I'm hooked!

After drooling over their hair, video after video, I started to read the comments and I noticed that Leyla and Mimi *the lovely Luxy Sisters!* stated that they have their own line of extensions - I hurried on over to their website: www.luxyhair.com and took a peek for myself. I instantly knew I needed to order a set of these beautiful locks. They come in two different sets - 120g (fine-medium) & 160g (medium-thick) and in 10 different shades! I kept putting it off and putting it off.. but finalllyyyyyy, I ordered them today!! I'm hoping to get them sometime this week - wear them a bit, then do a review on them! CANT WAIT, CANT WAIT, CANT WAIT!

January Favorites*

I've decided to do a post either at the end of or near the end of each month, showcasing some of the favourite sets of nails of done that month. This month is a mishmash of different things - but nonetheless these are by far my fav's for January!

-Carrie's Bouquet-
this set is simple yet elegant. I custom mixed a purple sparkle acrylic and sculpted all 10 fingers.
Filed and finished as I normally would, then applied my FAVOURITE top coats: INM Total Eclipse & INM Out The Door (O.T.D) for a high-gloss shine. I then went back and sculpted these 3D flowers out of INM's Cotton Sheets *from their Spring Fever collection* and added the bouillon's for that added elegance. This was my first time attempting to do a 5 petal flower - it's simple, but it's still 5 petals!

-Jane of the Jungle-
one of my weaknesses: leopard print. I've always used a Konad stamp to get the effect and was never brave enough to try my own hand at creating the fab spots. This month I took a whirl at it and this was the result - and I have to say I'm quite happy with the result! I just can't get enough of these!

 -N.Y.E-
these weren't a first for me. I do alot of this style of nail in our salon. 'Bling Nails' as we like to call them, are what we're known for. This was a set for a friend of mine for New Years Eve. The perfect mix of black and silver is dramatic enough for New Years, but wearable enough until her next fill. Since I did these on her, we've had numerous clients come in and ask for this set!

-Helloooooo, Kitty!-
these cutesy little things are mine - and I'm lovin 'em! I've always wanted to have a feature nail of Hello Kitty's cute little face, and now I've got it! I did try to do something similar to these when I was fresh out of nail school, and her face did not look like it does on this set hahaha. From the pink sparkly acrylic, to the bubble gum pink polka dots, iridescent inlays and the 3D bow - I think even Hello Kitty herself would be proud to rock these!

The year has just begun and already I've done so many neat sets of nails. The next 11 months hold so much potential and I couldn't be more excited! With the Spa Esthetique show coming up in 3 weeks, I know the nail art we'll be picking up is going to be out of control. I'm going to hopefully be making a vlog of that whole day from beginning to end and I'll do a blog featuring my vlog... did you get that? hahahaha. And I'm expecting to get those stamping plates I ordered a couple weeks ago in the mail sometime this week, so when I get them I'll post some pictures!

Boyfriend Tag (YouTube)

Im slacking on my blog already so I'm doing a double post tonight. I might as well seeing as how insomnia has reared its ugly head again. ick. So, for a week straight I've been begging my love to do the Boyfriend Tag video from YouTube with me. After much whining - I won! (: Here it is! A little peek into our crazy little life together. what. a. day.

oh so happy in the snow just a few days ago,,,

then it was back into the swing of things this morning after 2.5 snow days off. Luckily, my day started off with getting chewed out over the phone, continued on with Dawn getting double booked not once, not twice, but three times. And to finish off the mother of all days - I backed Betty *my beloved car* right into the friggin' snow bank outside of our house. poor betty ):
like my mummsie always says: if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. Amen, sister.. Amen!

on a better note: we ordered 6 new Konad plates and I can't wait to post pictures of them when they arrive! Educator training is coming up next month and I'm already getting nervous. We're expecting a new instructor this year and thats always nerve wracking. 5 days *instead of 4 like last year* of intense training, testing, and even public speaking (can I crawl in a hole now?) The highlight of that week is most definitely my 6 year anniversary with my absolutely fabulous boyfriend, Jevad. Highschool Sweethearts ♥ I kindly remind him on a daily basis that my ring finger is feeling a little lighter than it should be (;

A quick 'Hello' & Spring Trends

First of all - HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This my first blog post!! Here's to hoping I dont procrastinate and jump ship too soon! I've got a lot to learn about the blogging world - I'm just doing this for fun and in the hopes that someone enjoys what I write *or ramble!* about. So on with the show.. Since it's a NEW YEAR and this is a NEW BLOG, I thought I'd blog about NEW TRENDS *see what I'm saying about the rambling?*

Whats hot this season?: Milky whites, golden honeys and soft pinks are what you should be donning on those digits this Spring. I know what youre thinking "pastels and neutrals are so last year" and yeah, you're right but THIS year my lovely nail fiend friends, is different. We jump from a beautiful Blushing Pink, to Deep Burgandy, Coral and even Chartreuse! And while all that is fine and dandy *and quite beautiful, too* the way to MY heart and to the hearts of many of our clients is - B L I N G! Bling, baby and lots of it! Harpers predicts some "fancy patterns" to grace the digits of gorgeous runway models this Spring - and by fancy, they mean rhinestones, glitter, foils, etc. But this season isnt about how much we can pile into each nail, its about perfecting the beauty that is the 'bling nail'.
Armani is spot on with this creamy beige. We know the stigma attached to neutral colours - boring, right? WRONG! Dress up your neutral nails with some black leopard print,
or flirty polka dots. Beige aint your grannys colour any more!
Chanel never disappoints. Check out this blush pink - flirtier than the beige,
but still soft enough to stay spot on trend.
This has to be my 2nd favorite trend for this season: OMBRE NAILS! Stars have been rocking Ombre hair *google it!* for a while now, but its time for our nails to finally get a taste of the ombre-action. Now there are 2 ways of doing these fab nails *that i've seen, at least.*:

1. choosing 5 shades of the same colour and applying from darkest-to-lightest/lightest-to-darkest. I love love LOVE this look and I can't wait to try it on myself *in acrylic of course!*
2. select at least 3 shades of the same colour: light, middle, and darkest shade. Blend all colours together to get the effect that the colours 'fade' into one another. Not my fav look, as its quite a bit harder to blend polish *for those who want to do this at home* than it is for us to blend gel or acrylic - plus I just really realllllllyyyy like the look of each individual colour.
FINALLY!! Last but definitely not least - BLING! Bling, bling and more bling! This model is sporting a feature nail, which many techs have been doing for ages already - finally some recognition! I can't get enough of the 'feature nail'. And while sometimes we can try to pile as much as we can into one tiny little nail, this season its all about perfecting the placement. A little organized chaos, if you will. But organization doesn't mean boring. Check out those rhinestones!
